FAIR data-sharing of MRSA genotype-phenotype relations in Saudi Arabia

Abstract:

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is an important pathogen that impacts many environments and causes many infections. The acquisition of drug resistance genes limits treatment options.  Monitoring the dissemination; in particular the resistome, clonal complex and virulence of MRSA is crucial for public health policy. Currently, data from Saudi Arabia on genomics level is limited, hence an effort to understand the genomic landscape and clonal distribution across the kingdom is important. Our aim is to expose more sequencing data to the public domain, build research databases for infectious diseases and create a platform to share data among scientists and clinicians. In this talk, we will present our work about making MRSA genotype-phenotype data findable, accessible, interoperable and reusable (FAIR).
