Biography

Francesca De Filippis is Associate Professor of Food Microbiology at the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA). She is a microbial ecologists with a Food Science background. Her research focuses on food and gut microbiome looking at the role of microbiota of foods and food-related environments in the maintenance of food quality and safety and at the relationship between diet, gut microbiota and health. She has published about 90 peer-reviewed scientific articles, attracting around 4,900 citations with H-index of 40 (Scopus, Sept. 2022). She is Member of the Managing Board of the Task Force on Microbiome Studies at UNINA and member of the Board of Professors of the PhD School in Food Science. She is/was involved in several National and International projects exploring the role of the microbiome in food productions and for human health. FDF was included in the list of the World's Top 2% scientists across all fields of year 2019 and 2020 by Stanford University.
