Biography

Dr. Fowzan Alkuraya is a renowned Professor of Human Genetics at the College of Medicine in Alfaisal University and the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has been serving as the Chairman of the Department of Translational Genomics at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital since March 2021.

Dr. Alkuraya is a Senior Clinical Scientist and Consultant with over 15 years of experience at Alfaisal University, where he has been a Professor of Human Genetics since 2008. He started his career as a Clinical and Molecular Genetics Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital in 2003, where he served for four years.

Dr. Alkuraya is a leading expert in the field of human genetics and genomics, with a special focus on rare genetic disorders. His research has contributed significantly to understanding the genetic basis of rare diseases, and he has discovered several novel genes associated with these disorders. He has authored over 400 research articles and reviews, making him one of the most influential scientists in his field.

Dr. Alkuraya is a member of several scientific and professional societies and has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to human genetics research. He is committed to promoting the use of genetics and genomics in personalized medicine and improving the diagnosis and treatment of rare genetic diseases.
