Research and transformation of commensal microbiome
Abstract:
The study of the commensal microbiome, the diverse community of microorganisms inhabiting the human body, has witnessed a paradigm shift with the development of high-throughput sequencing technology. This transformative technology has opened up a wealth of opportunities for understanding the role of commensal microbiota in human health and disease. This presentation provides an overview of the progress in tools and methods in the study of this field and introduces BGI’s findings on relations between human symbiotic microorganisms and diseases, as well as the attempts at translation in precision nutrition. It also discusses their practice and thinking about demos and initiatives of large cohorts and big data, bringing the prospect of an integrated model to well define health and enhance it with microbiome-omics.
