Shida Zhu is a dedicated professional currently serving as the VP of R&D at BGI Genomics, a leading listed company in China focused on genomic research and genetic testing services. Since joining BGI in 2010, Zhu has been devoted to cancer genomics research and translational applications. He heads the Shenzhen Engineering Laboratory for Innovative Molecular Diagnostics, leading a team that develops bioinformatics tools for studying genetic diseases, including birth defects, infections, and cancer. Their goal is to identify new biomarkers and innovative methodologies for early screening and precise diagnosis. Zhu's team has developed and successfully launched various applications that have received approval from multiple authorities, including NMPA and SFDA, benefiting hundreds and thousands of patients annually. Research and translation of commensal microbiome in health management is one of the top interests.
